Brax Herford

Leineweber GmbH & Co. KG in Herford, better known under the brand name BRAX, began in Berlin in the year 1888. After a change in ownership in 1932 the company relocated its headquarters to Herford, where it moved into a neo-classical administration building near the city centre, the same building that is the home of the company today. The company’s outlet and logistics centre are also located on these premises. The company achieved a turnover of 274 million Euros in 2011 with its 67 stores and 1,312 shop-in-shops and its labels BRAX, BRAX Golf, Raphaela by BRAX and Eurex ensure its position as one of the market leaders in the high-quality casual clothing sector.

Project aim

The warehouse capacity at the Herford site was to be expanded to achieve even shorter delivery time. An existing building was to be used for this. The plan was to achieve full capacity utilisation on 4 levels with a high packing density and fast access to the goods.

Solution

Leineweber decided on an automatic roll adapter system from Dürkopp. Thanks to the high level of packing density less space was needed than originally planned. The high-quality trousers are moved from an adjoining building to the ground floor where they are allocated to a roll adapter and its transponder and then conveyed to one of the upper storage levels. There are pick rotors here in which the trousers are densely buffered until they are needed again. The 60-minute sorting cycle is all it takes for the company to have access to every single pair of trousers. Once retrieved the stored goods are transported back to the ground floor where they are automatically sorted and then packed.

Solution implemented

Roll adapter

For many years now the roll adapter system has proved its strengths in the transportation and sorting of hanging garments. It is a reliable, efficient and flexible system made possible by a standardised adapter equipped with an RFID transponder. Loaded automatically with a hanger or fixed to a sorter bag, it moves via a rail system to various stations such as automatic storage, labelling stations, sequence sorters and packing stations.
