KiabiFrankreich

Kiabi France

Founded in 1978 in the metropolis of Lille Kiabi designs and sells inexpensive fashion articles. The company has extensive expertise in the fashion and retail branch where its success is based on its solemn promise: fashion with an excellent price/performance ration.

Meanwhile the company has 449 shops and is present on the Internet in 8 countries.

Project aim

Up until the year 2008 Kiabi’s e-commerce orders were sorted in a manual multi-stage process. However, rising demand meant that the capacities and storage area were no longer sufficient and manpower requirements were considerable. In close cooperation with Dürkopp Fördertechnik the company developed an innovative concept which was implemented at the beginning of 2011.

Solution

The pocket system was expanded over 3 levels allowing optimisation of the floor space compared to a standard solution. 97% of the Kiabi articles can be handled automatically by the pocket system. Oversized articles are picked manually and sent to the packing station. All areas work independently from each other with maximum utilisation. Boxes containing the picked articles are moved by a container conveyor to the charging stations where employees scan the individual articles and place them in the sorter pocket.

The pocket system then conveys the articles from the ground floor to levels 1 or 2 for interim storage in the buffer areas. The pockets are brought into the correct sequence by a patented sorting process before they are returned to the packing stations on the ground floor ready sorted according the single orders. The employees receive all the information they need for an order via a monitor. Once the order is acknowledged they receive the shipping slip automatically before the articles are packed and sent off to the customer.

Sorter Pocket

This system is also based on a roll adapter that is equipped with a special goods carrier – the sorter bag. Combined with the roll adapter the system also sorts articles such as shoes, books and foil-covered textiles – in fact anything that will fit into a normal shopping bag. Thanks to this combination it is now possible for the very first time to transport and sort both hanging and flat goods in a single system, a particularly interesting solution for the e-commerce sector.

You will find more information about the sorter pocket here.

Roll adapter

For many years now the roll adapter system has proved its strengths in the transportation and sorting of hanging garments. It is a reliable, efficient and flexible system made possible by a standardised adapter equipped with an RFID transponder. Loaded automatically with a hanger or fixed to a sorter bag, it moves via a rail system to various stations such as automatic storage, labelling stations, sequence sorters and packing stations.
