The Cross Belt Sorter from DFT is a high-performance sorting system designed for the fast and gentle distribution of items to multiple destinations. Each carrier in the circulating system is equipped with a belt conveyor (cross belt) that runs perpendicular to the direction of travel.
Items are loaded onto the carriers and identified by barcode. At the destination, the belt is actively controlled to push the item precisely to the left, right, or both sides.
The items to be sorted are transferred semi-automatically or fully automatically via Induct conveyors to one or two belts running perpendicular to the conveyor direction, where they are identified. The variable speed at which the cross belts can be operated enables gentle and precise discharge of the items at their designated end points.
The Cross Belt Sorter can handle a wide range of products of various sizes and shapes, from small and fragile items to larger goods and packages. For larger items, two Cross Belts can be used together. The specific suitability is assessed based on the item’s dimensions, weight, surface, and behavior.
The Cross Belt Sorter can be routed in three dimensions through curves, inclines, and declines. This allows the route to be adapted to existing warehouse structures and makes efficient use of the available space. Sorting destinations can be positioned on either the left or right side, enabling discharge to either the left or right.
The Cross Belt Sorter is particularly well-suited for quickly, gently, and precisely distributing a wide variety of items to multiple destinations. Its actively driven cross belts are especially advantageous when items of different sizes and shapes need to be handled safely and complex layouts must be implemented.

Push-Tray Sorter
Items are transported on flat trays and, upon reaching their destination, are pushed laterally – to the left or right – into the final station by a pusher bar. Available in horizontal and vertical configurations, as well as single- or double-sided versions. A robust, proven design for reliable lateral discharge.
Cross-Belt Sorter
A continuous-flow system in which each carriage has an actively driven belt. This belt discharges the goods particularly gently and flexibly at any position – on one or two carriages, depending on the item size. This ensures high throughput and maximum flexibility for a wide variety of item sizes.
