DFT’s engagement around a bicycle-friendly company supports the change in mobility culture in Bielefeld

Bielefeld, 2.10.2024 – DFT – Dürkopp Fördertechnik GmbH was honored to receive the award “Excellent Bicycle Friendly” in an official ceremony of the Industrie- und Handelskammer Ostwestfalen zu Bielefeld (IHK) . This year, the IHK gave the award to 16 companies for the first time. The certificate recognizes companies in the region for their commitment to promoting bicycle traffic and creating a sustainable, bicycle-friendly environment as well as their awareness of climate protection.
The award as a bicycle-friendly company is another milestone in DFT’s history and underlines the company’s commitment to a sustainable future and to providing the region with momentum.
“We are proud to receive this award from the IHK Ostwestfalen zu Bielefeld,” said Dirk Bockelmann, Managing Director Sales and Marketing at DFT. “Our aim is to offer our employees a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative for their daily travel to work. This award confirms that we are on the right track.”
“Promoting cycling is an important part of our sustainability strategy,” explains Sigurd Völker, Managing Director at DFT. “We want to make our contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and at the same time promote the health and well-being of our employees.”
The IHK Bielefeld awards the certificate to companies that have taken special measures to promote cycling. The jury’s decision was based on DFT’s various initiatives on the subject of bicycle use. These include the on-site bicycle infrastructure with covered bicycle parking spaces, changing facilities, showers and a tool station for quick assistance. A repair kit is also available to employees.
The offer of job bike leasing and the annual participation in the city cycling competition are further incentives for many DFT employees to switch to bicycles. As a result, the bicycle is a regular topic in internal communications.
For the future, this recognition as “Excellent Bicycle Friendly” is another opportunity for DFT to further strengthen our commitment to climate-friendly mobility.
